Projects I've worked on
i am is an ongoing empowerment campaign designed to help individuals speak life over themselves through bold, affirming statements. Rooted in the belief that words hold power, the project invites people to reclaim their identity, recognize their inner light, and embrace their worth. Through social media storytelling, visual content, and interactive prompts, i am creates a space for vulnerability, healing, and authentic self-expression. Whether whispered in quiet reflection or spoken with bold conviction, every i am statement becomes a step toward confidence, connection, and truth.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed many things, and one of the most significant was how graduations were celebrated. Many high school seniors missed out on traditional ceremonies due to safety restrictions. In collaboration with the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program and the respective school districts of the youth enrolled in the program, Pitadas was created.
Pitadas was an initiative designed to honor graduating seniors while maintaining COVID-19 safety guidelines. Staff members and key stakeholders drove to the students’ homes, honking, cheering, and displaying banners and signs in celebration. Diplomas were delivered personally, and each graduate had the opportunity to have their portrait taken in their cap and gown.
This heartfelt initiative brought joy and recognition to youth who might have otherwise been overlooked. It was a meaningful effort that helped students feel seen, valued, and celebrated at a time when many milestones had been disrupted.
Somos was an internal campaign centered on employee recognition and organizational branding. The campaign aimed to capture the organization’s core values through the stories of employees who live out those values each day in service to clients.
Through a series of photographs and social media content, the organization celebrated and recognized team members who demonstrated excellence in their roles. At the same time, the campaign highlighted the impactful work being done across the organization, reinforcing a sense of pride, purpose, and unity among staff.
My passion for culture began during my university years when I had the opportunity to support and serve international students. After meeting a student who did not receive the warmest welcome to our city, a friend and I were inspired to take action. We founded an initiative called Global Nights, designed to help international students adjust to their new environment, learn about local customs, and find a sense of belonging—a family away from home.
Each week, we hosted potluck dinners where we explored different cultures through food. Students were always eager to prepare dishes from their home countries, creating space for connection, storytelling, and cultural exchange. Beyond meals, we supported students through outings to grocery stores, doctor visits, and places of worship. We also offered opportunities for them to volunteer with local nonprofit organizations and give back to the community.
Global Nights became more than a student initiative. It was a movement of empathy, hospitality, and mutual learning that shaped my values and deepened my commitment to cultural inclusion and human connection.
In collaboration with the Brownsville Independent School District and the Wellness Department at Southwest Key Programs, the organization hosted its first ever Olympic-style event for employees across the South Texas region. The Wellness Olympics was a vibrant and engaging experience designed to promote physical activity, strengthen employee relationships, and celebrate well-being in the workplace.
The event brought together staff for a day of connection, friendly competition, and fun. With more than 10 games including tug of war, long jump, a 100 meter dash, basketball challenges, and team relays, employees had the opportunity to step away from their everyday routines and engage in spirited activities.
Food trucks lined the event space offering local flavors and refreshments, while wellness remained at the center through programming focused on movement, mindfulness, and motivation. The Wellness Olympics left employees feeling energized, appreciated, and more connected, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to health, camaraderie, and community.
One of the most meaningful initiatives I have had the honor and privilege to work on alongside key stakeholders was Líderes de Mañana. This youth development program was created to empower young people by helping them build the foundational skills and values needed to become engaged and responsible members of their communities.
The program provided participants with opportunities to connect with local leaders, volunteer at nonprofit organizations and elder care homes, and take part in hands-on workshops focused on personal growth, leadership, and civic responsibility. From learning effective communication to developing empathy and resilience, youth were equipped with tools to make a lasting and positive impact in their communities.
Being part of Líderes de Mañana was not just a professional achievement. It was a deeply fulfilling experience that allowed me to contribute to the development of future changemakers and support a culture of purpose, pride, and hope.
The Crisis Communications in-person workshop was a strategically developed curriculum designed to address past, ongoing, and potential future crises within the organization. The primary audience was on-site employees responsible for providing care and ensuring the safety of program participants.
This workshop focused on identifying and responding to misinformation and disinformation, offering supportive resources during times of crisis, and facilitating thoughtful discussion around complex or high-pressure situations. It empowered staff with practical tools, clear communication strategies, and a deeper understanding of how to navigate challenges with confidence and clarity.
Around the World was a national internal campaign created to educate, celebrate, and engage with the diverse cultural holidays and customs observed by employees across the organization. Through original videos, interviews, and photography, Southwest Key highlighted team members from all shifts and locations across the country. The campaign honored individual traditions, amplified employee voices, and promoted a strong sense of belonging.
This initiative helped deepen cultural understanding, build meaningful connections among staff, and reinforce an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
